I remember this one case where the cop was bought out by the guy we were trying to get an FIR registered. We filed a case in court and the cop filed a status report which basically just supported the accused person's made up story. He also lied that he went to the Complainant's home to take his statement when he didn't. I told the judge he's lying, and demanded to see the diary entry. The cop said he "forgot" to make a diary entry. The judge told him if he didn't file a fresh unbiased status report, she would initiate disciplinary proceedings. He straightened out real quick after that.

Lawyers know them, and they know What to get and collect to actually argue with these in court. Plus the power of BAR association, lastly. Recently a friend of mine who is an advocate was messing up with the police after a bar fight erupted in NCR. Contrary to popular belief, his phone was snatched, and he was pushed inside a cell at a police station and slapped multiple times where he kept saying he’s a lawyer . True story happened few weeks ago .

My brother in law is in Delhi HC, I asked the same question long time back, he said, outside it's their playground, inside court premises it's ours and any proceedings have to go through us. So they either fear us or befriend us.

After going through the comments and considering the social status of women in India I think every women should pursue law. That will keep them safe. 

Regarding this post by OP.
Even if you dont marry a lawyer, a women can hire a lawyer and sue you if things went wrong. So if you are deciding about relationship or marriage by professional attributes i suggest please dont. You may also bring your profession in regular relationship fights.

So think from an open mind before committing to anything.

That totally depends on her mindset, values, ideals and her love towards you. Marriage change a lots of things. If she is a narcissist , run as far as you can. If you make good money or have wealth, be very cautious. They can always squeeze you if things go south. 

In my locality, there was a girl whose father was a lawyer. He married her daughter to a wealthy family. He uses all of his expertise to extract money from them. They look so frustrated to be dominated by him, and losing their hard earned money. 

So I would suggest you to proceed with caution and look for red flags.

I mean even if she wasn't a lawyer she could just hire a good lawyer and the outcome would be the same. Yes, some people abuse the system, but it is literally nowhere near as frequent as people on here seem to think. 

I'm a lawyer, I've mostly only dated lawyers, most of my friends circle is lawyers, I know dozens of lawyers, and I've never personally seen this happen. It can happen rarely, and it doesn't just happen because the girl is a lawyer. 

The vast majority of people who have this fear are going by anecdotes and media reports. It's easy to think there's an epidemic of false cases when you read about them so frequently, but keep in mind that the percentage of relationships that will go this hostile is miniscule. 

I think if people on this subreddit went and worked in family law or spoke to family law experts instead of listening to mostly non-laywers and sensationalist media, you will see a drop in such posts. People also love taking a couple of lines from judgements that may or may not have anything to do with the final verdict and writing sensationalist headlines. 

People also frequently say that we shouldn't just blindly believe women, but then turn around and blindly believe men. If someone is accused of domestic violence and dowry harassment, they will obviously deny it and blame the girl. If your principle is don't automatically believe accusations, then use it consistently. 

Even if cases where the in laws are constantly demanding gifts, demands for jewellery / houses, etc., the guy will come out and tell everyone there was no dowry harassment, and the girl is doing it for the money. 

They will go out and tell everyone that the girl is asking for X amount of money (they may even record this or have screenshots), without specifying that the amount may be to recover the 'gifts' taken by the family. 

Obviously most people want to believe that their friends or family are not capable of this. But I think most lawyers will tell you that even the most docile, friendly types can do some vile stuff. 

Stop worrying about it and live your life. Even the vast majority of lawyers who know the law and risks better are not worried.

Someone I know married his gf who was a lawyer. He is now facing all kinds of legal harassment and from the police after 2 years of marriage. She is expecting a huge sum of money as a settlement which he doesn't have. I don't know what went wrong between them but he was a software engineer and things didn't go smooth.

I dont have any advice for you. All I'd like to say is, your worries are valid. Especially in this day and age where love doesn't last long, and commitment even less. I hope not (I really do) but if you were to fall deeply in love and THEN separate causing HER any mental or emotional trauma. I personally avoid girls who are lawyer or in the police. I once met a girl on bumble she was a lawyer. She used to joke that she can very easily file a case against me or anyone. She herself told me how most of the women misuse law to get revenge. I used to record most of our conversation to protect myself if anything bad happens. And ignore woke comments. They are living in fairy tales.You know the reality.If someday she decided to fuck you up nobody can stop her if you yourself are not well connected/powerful. My honest opinion is don't start a relationship with her. That said, you can also be robbed or killed anytime you step out of your house. You can die in a car crash anytime you drive a vehicle, or even standing on the footpath. Do not let fear cloud your judgement.

Sure she knows all laws and could use against you. And so could any woman you marry as even if they are not aware, when things go south and they get a lawyer they will be made aware of all cases they could file against you. What will you do if the woman you marry has a close lawyer friend? There is just no optimal solution.

What you could know is how she treats you and how she responds when you have disagreements. Date her for a while and understand where she comes from. Try to gauge what kind of person she is. Then you take a leap of faith. But be willing to walk away if you find red flags even if you are head over heels.
